Parents Killed in Drone Strike, Journalist Saves Four-Year-Old Girl in Bilohorodka.
Drone Attack in Bilohorodka
According to TSN.ua: A Russian drone attack in Bilohorodka, Kyiv region, on the night of Tuesday, January 28, claimed the lives of a man and a woman. Their four-year-old daughter, Alina Lisova, was rescued from the scene. The strike, which targeted the Bilohorodka community, ignited a fire on the roof and upper floor of an apartment building.
According to eyewitnesses, the couple was inside their apartment at the time of the attack and could not escape. Journalist Marian Kushnir, who was at the scene, described finding the child: "I saw the apartment door half-open. I opened it and found the girl on the bed, crying and calling for her mother, while her mother was on the second floor where the fire had already started."
Emergency services arrived quickly and extinguished the blaze, but were tragically unable to save the child's parents. This incident is part of a pattern of attacks on civilian areas far from the front lines, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the conflict. The tragedy in Bilohorodka underscores the profound loss and suffering inflicted on families with no connection to the fighting.
The Imperative to Protect Civilians
This event starkly illustrates the grave risks faced by civilians in wartime and reinforces the urgent need for their protection. Military actions not only cause physical destruction but also tear families apart, leaving deep emotional scars. The Bilohorodka incident serves as a grim reminder of the critical importance of adhering to international laws designed to safeguard non-combatants during armed conflict.
