Drone strike on a 9-story building in the Dniprovskyi district: two dead
Two dead were recorded in a nine-story building in the Dniprovskyi district, where a Russian drone hit, causing a fire. Search and rescue operations at the scene ended in the evening.
The consequences of the attack are described as 'a hole in the wall of one of the apartments and a charred facade of the building.' The enemy drone hit the residential building around half past three in the morning.
Residents share their impressions of the attack:
'The drone was buzzing, then the explosion was very loud.'
The strike hit an apartment on the 7th floor, causing a fire.
Vyacheslav Shebitko, resident: 'The neighbor's place burned down; it flew right into her apartment, mine is nearby, but the windows face the other side. The neighbor lived in the village. Everything is fine there, the only thing is that the dog perhaps died, which was left there.'
Due to the intense fire, people on the upper floors found themselves trapped in flames.
Karina Tolmachova and Kyrylo Cherkov, residents of the 8th floor: 'We lived on the 8th floor; you could see the white paneling. At the moment of the strike, we were home, we jumped. We thought it was in the building opposite; we were going out through the smoke; it was burning. We wet towels and dashed out. I don’t know how we got out; people, a woman was bleeding. We believe we were born in shirts because if it had been just a little to the right, it would have been us.'
Rescue workers were on the scene, extinguishing the fire and clearing the debris.
Pavlo Petrov, rescuer: 'The fire spread from the 5th to the 8th floor, partial destruction of the building facade, as well as partial destruction of one of the inter-floor overlaps in one of the rooms. Unfortunately, we found two dead, and 17 people were rescued, including three children.'
