Nearly 680 Tons of Batteries Collected by ATB Over Four Years: How Much Has Been Recycled.
ATB’s Environmental Initiative
According to TSN.ua: More than 6.4 million used batteries have been gathered by ATB and sent for recycling in Poland. This effort is part of the 'Recycle Today for a Clean Tomorrow!' project, which has enabled the company to collect close to 680 tons of batteries over the last four years. These power cells, which pose a serious environmental hazard, are now being processed at the BatEKO facility in Poland.
Customer Participation
Shoppers at ATB have actively joined the battery collection drive, bringing over 6.4 million units to stores. In total, more than 128 tons of environmentally harmful scrap were collected, with 118 tons already recycled. This highlights consumers’ significant contribution to environmental protection and the reduction of toxic waste.
Over the four-year span of the project, ATB has managed to collect and send for recycling nearly 680 tons of used batteries. That amount is equivalent to 34 full truckloads of toxic scrap, underscoring the severity of hazardous waste disposal challenges. Special collection bins for dangerous waste are available in over 1,300 ATB stores, making the process convenient and accessible for customers.
This initiative emphasizes the importance of environmental awareness among the public and the role companies play in tackling hazardous waste disposal.
Collecting and recycling used batteries represents a crucial step toward reducing negative environmental impacts, which in turn helps establish ecological norms in society. ATB’s experience can serve as a model for other companies looking to implement similar green initiatives.
