According to TSN.ua: The British Heart Foundation has urged consumers to be more cautious about the ingredients in trendy gut-friendly foods like kimchi, kombucha, fruit smoothies, and yogurts with added extras. The concern stems from potentially high levels of salt or sugar in these items, which could have a negative impact on overall health.
Concerns Over Salt and Sugar Content
Fermented foods such as kimchi and sauerkraut often come loaded with salt. Regularly eating these products may contribute to higher blood pressure, posing a serious health risk. Meanwhile, store-bought kombucha drinks can contain added sugar, which is another red flag. Flavored yogurts and pre-made smoothie mixes may also be packed with sugar, leading to excessive intake of this ingredient.
