Attack on Odesa: Infrastructure Damage and Changes in Education
According to ТСН: On the night of December 19, Odesa fell victim to an attack that resulted in damage to the railway infrastructure and injury to one worker. Local authorities, considering the circumstances, recommended educational institutions shift to blended learning.
This was reported by the management of 'Ukrzaliznytsia' and the Odesa City Council.
‘Another nighttime attack on Odesa also affected the railway infrastructure. A post at one of the stations was destroyed, and our railway worker-signal operator suffered shrapnel injuries,’ said Perzovsky in a statement.
He also reported that the injured railway worker was promptly taken to the hospital. The injuries are not critical, but doctors plan to perform surgery.
Despite the damage, traffic in the Odesa railway hub continues.
Witnesses filmed the aftermath of the destruction of the infrastructure.
The Odesa City Council noted that due to prolonged air alerts, the local military administration recommended that all educational institutions transition to blended learning. The Department of Education and Science supported this initiative. Classes will be held in synchronous or asynchronous formats, and in kindergartens, there will be rotating groups, while in schools, there will be rotating classes.
It is also worth mentioning that on the night of December 19, Russia attacked Odesa, hitting an energy infrastructure facility, which led to power, water, and heating outages in one of the city’s largest residential areas. One person was injured, and damage to the windows of a five-story residential building was recorded.
This nighttime attack on Odesa highlights the ongoing threats the country faces amid the war. Authorities are responding to challenges by adapting the education system to new realities and ensuring safe conditions for children's learning. In such difficult circumstances, it is important to maintain stability in all areas of life, from infrastructure to education.
