As of now, a dozen eggs costs an average of 87.16 hryvnias—a noticeable blow for many households. Over the past month, prices have risen by roughly 1%, signaling a steady climb in food costs across the board.
Price Breakdown by Retailer
The cost of a dozen eggs varies significantly depending on the store:
- The cheapest option is at the 'Silpo' chain, priced at 65.91 UAH.
- 'Varus' sells them for 69.80 UAH.
- Stores like 'ATB', 'Auchan', 'Fora', and 'Metro' charge between 75 and 80 UAH.
- The highest price is at 'MegaMarket', where a dozen costs 92 UAH.
Looking at per-egg prices, one egg at 'Varus' costs 5.69 UAH, with a base price of 6.29 UAH. At 'Fora' and 'Novus', the per-egg price ranges from 6.80 to 6.89 UAH. 'MegaMarket' again tops the list with a single egg priced at 8 UAH.
This economic climate is pushing consumers to find ways to save money. Expert Zinovy Svereda warns that
