A Farmer's Tragedy: Viktor's Ordeal

According to TSN.ua: While transporting fresh milk to a local shop, farmer Viktor was severely injured by a Russian drone strike. In the aftermath, he pleaded with medics to tend to his animals, which had been left unattended. His village is home to two cows and three calves. The explosion left him with severe burns, multiple fractures, and permanent blindness.

Viktor's Account of the Attack

Viktor recalls the moment he was targeted:

“I heard a blast. My face was covered in blood. I saw the car on fire. I barely managed to open the door and crawl out because it was already burning. I dragged myself toward the bushes, and they were circling the car!”
This horrifying incident occurred as he was trying to deliver milk to the local store.

Following the attack, Viktor received medical treatment. He underwent several complex surgeries and received over three liters of blood transfusions. An intensive care doctor noted that Viktor kept repeating:

“Who will look after my cows?”
This plea highlights his deep concern for the animals left alone.

Viktor now faces more than ten surgeries in an effort to restore his sight. He expressed gratitude to the medical staff who treated him and admitted he feels calmer now that he has managed to reconnect with his family. “Zirka and Maika. Two cows and three calves. We don’t even have phone reception in the village—it’s rare. Until we finally got through to my son… Now I feel more at ease,” he added.

This tragedy underscores the dangers civilians face amid military conflicts. Viktor became a victim of senseless violence that strikes even those simply going about their daily routines. It is crucial for society to pay attention to such events and support those affected. Incidents like this highlight the urgent need to protect civilians during wartime and emphasize the importance of humanitarian efforts in these challenging circumstances.
