Ukraine's Prosecutor General Resigned from Position
Ukraine's Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin announced his resignation from the position following a National Security and Defense Council meeting focused on mass abuses in the disability certification system among officials.
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, numerous abuses were found in the Ukrainian prosecutorial system. Kostin supported President Zelensky's stance on the need to cancel all unlawful decisions regarding disability and related pension accruals.
Reforming the MSEC System
During the National Security and Defense Council meeting, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Maliuk and the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko reported on the identified violations in disability certification by public officials. As a result of discussions, the president approved a series of decisions by decree to reform the MSEC system.
The key changes include full digitization of the medical and social expert commissions' processes, enhanced control over MSEC members' declarations, and review of unjustified disability decisions for officials.
The president instructed Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal to implement measures at the level of central executive authorities. It is planned to conduct an audit of pension accruals and make legislative changes to reform the medical and social examination system in Ukraine.
