Kharkiv Endures Intense Assault: 19 Injured, Including a Child and Pregnant Woman.
Intense Strikes Hit Kharkiv
According to TSN.ua: On January 24, a series of concentrated strikes struck the city of Kharkiv, injuring 19 people. The attack, which lasted nearly two and a half hours, involved at least 25 explosions as Russia targeted the city with 25 'Shahed' drones. Significant damage was inflicted across the city.
Impact of the Assault
The strikes caused damage to a range of civilian structures, including:
- apartment buildings
- private homes
- a student dormitory
- a hospital
- a maternity hospital
Among the wounded were a 12-year-old boy, a 25-year-old pregnant woman, and a 74-year-old pensioner. Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, has faced repeated attacks due to its proximity to the Russian border.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov stated: 'Last night, Kharkiv endured nearly 2.5 hours under a massive attack,' adding that 'this was a deliberate strike on a peaceful city.'
The situation in Kharkiv remains tense, with emergency services responding to the widespread damage. These events underscore the persistent threats to civilian safety in Ukraine, particularly in regions under frequent assault. The targeting of civilian infrastructure highlights the conflict's intensity and the ongoing need for international attention to a crisis that continues to endanger non-combatants.
