Ukraine Now Lets Employees in Occupied Areas Quit Online via the Diia App.
Remote Resignations for Workers in Occupied Regions
According to TSN.ua: Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers has approved a measure allowing employees trapped in occupied territories to terminate their employment contracts remotely through the Diia digital platform. This initiative aims to help individuals formally end their working relationships with employers still operating in temporarily occupied zones or active combat areas.
“We are eliminating this legal deadlock and giving people the opportunity to move forward with their careers.”
Yulia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine
The Diia system will automatically record the termination date, notify the employer, and update state registries in real time. This streamlines the resignation process for those facing severe hardships due to the war, removing bureaucratic barriers that could otherwise trap workers in limbo.
Supporting Workers Amid Wartime Challenges
This step represents a critical form of support for employees affected by the conflict, enabling them to adapt more easily to new living and working conditions. Given the ongoing instability, simplifying the resignation process could play a key role in reviving economic activity across other parts of Ukraine, as displaced workers gain the flexibility to seek new opportunities.
