Will North Korea refuse to provide troops to Russia? ISW Analysis.
Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) claim that the use of the North Korean army by Russia in the war against Ukraine could result in significant losses among North Korean soldiers. Thus, North Korean troops are unlikely to fully compensate for Russian losses. The INSTITUTE FOR THE STUDY OF WAR notes that on November 1 in Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with the head of the North Korean Foreign Ministry, Cho Son Hui, who reported that dictator Kim Jong Un has ordered support for Russia in the war with Ukraine. ISW analysts state that despite North Korea's support for Russia's efforts, their troops will not be able to solve the problem of neglecting human resources.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that up to 8,000 military personnel from North Korea have been relocated to the Kursk region.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in an interview with South Korean TV channel KBS that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin involved North Korean military in the war against Ukraine to avoid new mobilization in Russia. Zelensky also reported that currently, there are 3,000 North Korean soldiers in training camps in Russia, with the number expected to increase to 12,000 in the near future.
North Korean military may participate in battles as early as November
At a UN Security Council meeting, Ukraine's representative, Sergiy Kyslytsya, stated that North Korean military personnel could directly engage in combat actions against Ukraine's Armed Forces as early as November.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also confirmed the involvement of North Korean military by Russia in the war against Ukraine. He noted that military personnel from North Korea are stationed in Russia's Kursk region.
