Tense Meeting in the White House Puts Ukraine Before the Prospect of Confronting Russia

Yesterday, a meeting took place between US President Joseph Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, creating a tense situation. Although the US is not a full military ally of Ukraine, their support is very important. Now Ukraine must rely on its European partners and strengthen its own defense production. However, experts warn that Ukraine may be able to maintain its military capability for a few months, but then may face a shortage of ammunition and lose access to sophisticated weapons.

European Countries Demonstrated Their Support for Ukraine

After the meeting in the White House, Zelensky had a series of phone calls with European and UN leaders, who expressed their support and respect for the resilience of the Ukrainian president. Analyst Mykola Beleskov emphasized that starting military actions without US support would be a serious reproach to the American approach to Ukraine.

Ukraine is actively developing its own defense production, spending significant funds on it. Last year, 1.5 million drones were produced, and this year, the plan is to release 3 thousand missiles and 30 thousand drones. However, Ukraine still cannot replace some American weapon systems that are crucial for deterring Russian aggression.

The Need for Rapid Assistance to Ukraine

European officials are calling for urgent assistance to Ukraine, as the conflict between Zelensky and American politicians highlighted its importance. The European Union has already allocated a significant amount of money for Ukraine, but most of the funds will go for budget support. Economist Tymofiy Mylovanov believes that Europe can help Ukraine by purchasing American weapons. However, further assistance from Europe may be influenced by the American government.

"Right now, Europe is showing its solidarity and support for Ukraine, but its dependence on the American government is less than it seems," noted Mylovanov.
