Warmth and Rain Ahead: Where Flooding and Avalanches Are Expected in Ukraine This April.
Ukraine’s April Weather Outlook
According to TSN.ua: April is set to bring warmer temperatures across Ukraine, but residents should also prepare for dense fog, localized flooding, and avalanche risks in mountainous areas. Starting April 1, a southern cyclone will trigger widespread rainfall throughout the country. Daytime highs will range from +10°C to +17°C, though western regions may see temperatures drop to +4°C. Overnight in the high-altitude Carpathians, the mercury could fall to 0°C.
From March 31 through April 3, the Cherkasy region is also forecast to receive rain. Water levels on the Desna, Snow, and Seim rivers will continue rising until April 3. The highlands of Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia remain under a level-three avalanche threat, the third-highest danger rating.
Regional Temperature Breakdown
- In Kyiv Oblast, overnight lows will range from +5°C to +10°C, with daytime highs between +13°C and +18°C.
- Lviv Oblast will experience overnight temperatures varying from -1°C to +4°C, rising to +8°C during the day.

'The lovely Prince April will arrive with pleasant, comfortable warmth—daytime temperatures of +10 to +16°C—and those much-needed, refreshing rains,' said forecaster Natalka Didenko.
Experts predict that warm air from the southeast will flow into the region, pushing average daily temperatures 4–5°C above the seasonal norm, according to Vitaliy Postryhan.
Overall, the first month of spring in Ukraine will be marked not only by rising temperatures but also by a variety of weather phenomena that require residents’ attention.
Given the forecast, it is crucial for Ukrainians to stay cautious, especially in areas at risk of flooding and avalanches. These conditions could disrupt transportation and infrastructure, so travelers and locals should factor them into their plans. The shifting weather may also affect agricultural activities, meaning farmers need to be ready to adjust their schedules accordingly.
