Lviv prepares for blackouts: the city tests alternative energy supply.
According to inkorr.com: From October 11, Lviv began a simultaneous check of all city resources for alternative water, electricity supply, and heating. City officials warned residents of potential inconveniences. This was communicated by the Mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi.
Resource check in Lviv
Winter may be tough, and this became apparent during the last night in Kyiv. Therefore, starting from October 11, Lviv is entering test mode. We need to check all our resources, mechanisms, supplies, and operational capacity. Although we used to do this annually, this check is happening simultaneously across the city for the first time, - noted Sadovyi.
As part of the check, traffic lights will be turned off from the main power supply and switched to alternative sources to ensure they function in the event of a blackout. Some schools and hospitals are already switching to solid fuel boilers to ensure heating without electricity.
The city authorities have also organized a check of all stoves in homes and are preparing resources for the effective operation of Lviv under potential crisis situations.
It should be noted that on the night of October 10, another attack occurred by the Russian Federation on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the Ukrainian energy system was attacked by over 450 drones and several dozen missiles.
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called on international partners to respond to Russian strikes on critically important civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.
Thus, starting from October 11, an important resource check for ensuring alternative water, electricity supply, and heating has begun in Lviv. This is a response to recent threats from Russia and preparation for potential crisis situations. The city authorities prioritize the safety of residents and the stability of municipal services during the winter period.
