According to TSN.ua: On the night of March 20, 2023, Ukraine faced a devastating wave of Russian drone strikes, causing widespread destruction and loss of life across multiple regions. Despite Ukrainian air defense systems successfully intercepting 133 enemy unmanned aerial vehicles, the attacks continued to inflict severe damage throughout the country.

The Zaporizhzhia region endured particularly intense bombardment, with over 860 strikes recorded across 40 settlements. These assaults claimed three lives and injured four people, including one child. In Kharkiv, a combat drone struck a building near an educational institution, while the broader Kharkiv region saw more than 200 combat engagements. In Chuhuiv, one home was completely obliterated, and ten others sustained damage.

Civilian Toll and Infrastructure Damage

In the Odesa region, two civilian commercial vessels were hit, highlighting attacks on maritime infrastructure. The Sumy region reported three fatalities and 13 injuries. Additionally, two people were wounded in the Nikopol and Synelnykove districts. In Kherson, five residents were injured in the assaults, and in Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, a woman was killed when an evacuation vehicle came under attack.

In the Cherkasy region, air defense units downed two enemy drones, but explosions continued to reverberate across the area, fueling public anxiety. Commenting on the situation, Oleksiy Kuleba stated,

“This attack constitutes a war crime against global food security.”

Residents near the front lines are being denied any chance to escape, placing civilian lives in grave danger. This night stands as yet another grim reminder of the conflict’s vast and destructive scale, which continues to impact the lives of thousands of Ukrainians.
