Ukraine Permits Over-the-Counter Drug Sales at Gas Stations: Eligibility Criteria.
Over-the-Counter Medications Now Available at Fuel Stations
According to TSN.ua: Starting March 3, Ukraine has authorized the sale of non-prescription medicines, such as fever reducers and pain relievers, at gas stations (fuel stations). This move, enacted through Government Decree No. 275, aims to simplify public access to essential medications. This policy is part of a broader effort to make basic healthcare products more readily available in convenient locations. Crucially, to sell these pharmaceutical products, cashier-operators must hold specialized education of at least a junior bachelor's degree in the field of 'Pharmacy'.
The decree regulating the sale of over-the-counter drugs at fuel stations was approved to ensure the population can obtain necessary medicines in accessible locations. According to the new requirements, operators conducting the sales must have the relevant educational background, enabling them to provide consultations and information about the medical products.
Future Plans for Implementation
Furthermore, the new decree outlines a second phase of changes, set to begin two months after the document's official publication. This indicates the government's plan to continue reforming the pharmaceutical sales sector to improve drug accessibility for citizens. The introduction of these new norms is intended to enhance the level of public service and ensure people can access necessary medicines in a consumer-friendly manner.
This decision represents a significant step toward simplifying access to basic medical supplies, particularly given current challenges in the healthcare sector. Since gas stations are widespread and frequently visited locations, the government hopes this measure will reduce queues and increase convenience for consumers. However, it remains vital that the operators conducting sales adhere to the stipulated education and professional training requirements to ensure the safe and responsible provision of medical services.
