According to TSN.ua: Police in the Cherkasy region have detained a 24-year-old man accused of breaking into the home of an 85-year-old woman in the Uman district and subjecting her to violence and sexual assault. The attack occurred on the night of March 28, when the suspect allegedly forced his way into the victim’s residence.
Case Details and Legal Proceedings
The arrest took place in the Cherkasy region. The suspect, a fellow villager of the victim, has been charged under Part 1 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which deals with rape. The Uman City District Court has ordered pretrial detention without the possibility of bail. If convicted, the offender faces a prison sentence of three to five years.
This incident has raised serious safety concerns within the local community, as attacks on elderly individuals are particularly alarming. Law enforcement continues to investigate the case to establish all the circumstances surrounding the crime.
