Death of the Infant in the Sumy Region
According to ТСН: In the Sumy region, the parents of a two-month-old baby have decided to seek legal recourse for their outrage over his death, for which they face up to five years in prison.
The law enforcement authorities reported that during the investigation it was found that 'the newborn boy, who was born on April 21, 2024, did not receive the necessary care and proper nutrition from his parents'.
'As a result, the child suffered drastic weight loss, developmental delays, and other signs of exhaustion. Moreover, when the boy fell ill, the parents did not seek timely medical help, which led to the child dying on July 15, 2024, from a viral infection of unknown origin,' the police reported.
The investigation is complete, and the indictment has already been sent to the court. The couple faces a penalty for gross negligence of childcare duties under Article 166 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
It is also worth noting that a case was documented in Chmelnyzkyj, where an infant was admitted to the intensive care unit due to critical weight issues. The mother could face up to 5 years in prison.
This tragic story underscores the seriousness of parental responsibility for their children. Such cases provoke outrage in society and raise questions about the necessity for improvement in the systems protecting families with children. In this context, society expects strict measures against those who fail to fulfill their parental duties.
