According to ТСН: A railway accident involving a freight and a passenger train occurred near Korosten.

According to preliminary data, a freight train first derailed. As a result, the locomotive crew of the passenger train No. 45/46 Kharkiv — Uzhgorod had to urgently stop movement, which led to the derailing of the passenger train's locomotive.

Among the passengers, there are no serious injuries. However, one woman received cuts from shattered glass — she was given assistance on site. The driver and his assistant from the freight train crew were hospitalized with injuries.

Changes in train movement

As a result of the accident, train movement in this area has significantly changed. Train No. 45/46 Kharkiv — Uzhgorod has been redirected to a neighboring station, and it will be sent on a detour route. The delay may last up to three hours. Several trains have also been redirected via Shepetivka, Kozyatin, and Fastiv.

Instead of Korosten, the following trains will run through Fastiv:

  • No. 1/123 Kharkiv — Ivano-Frankivsk, Vorokhta

  • No. 44/50 Ivano-Frankivsk — Cherkasy

  • No. 92 Lviv — Kyiv

  • No. 30 Uzhgorod — Kyiv

  • No. 8/150 Chernivtsi — Kyiv

  • No. 52 Przemyśl — Kyiv

  • No. 68/20 Warsaw, Kholm — Kyiv

  • No. 108 Solotvyno — Kyiv

Train No. 98 Kovel — Kyiv, as an exception, will be allowed through Zhytomyr — the delay will be less.

At the Shepetivka station, a transfer for passengers to a suburban shuttle in the direction of Korosten and back has been organized. More information about changes in suburban transport can be found on the channel 'Ukrzaliznytsia: suburban trains'.

Ukrzaliznytsia assured that they are working on a quick restoration of movement on the damaged section and minimizing delays for the trains that will temporarily operate on a detour.

We remind you that earlier we wrote about the fact that on the night of December 6, Russians destroyed the station in Fastiv, which is an important railway hub through which trains, including long-distance ones, passed.

This accident has become a serious incident for railway communication in the region, as changes in train movement may affect many passengers. Ukrzaliznytsia is actively working on restoring movement to minimize inconveniences for travelers.
