KFC Opens Its First Vegetarian Location in Kyiv: What’s on the Menu.
According to inkorr.com: A new KFC restaurant has opened in Kyiv's Blockbuster Mall, becoming the first in Ukraine to offer a completely vegetarian menu. The establishment began operations on September 29 and offers dishes based on plant-based meat analogs, aligning with modern trends in healthy eating and sustainability. This was reported by KFC's press service.
Vegetarian Menu at KFC in Ukraine
The menu of this restaurant is based on mycoprotein – an ingredient derived from natural fungus. This product is rich in protein and fiber, contains no cholesterol, and causes less environmental harm compared to animal meat. Recipes include dairy products and eggs, thus the menu is positioned as vegetarian rather than vegan. Guests are offered both updated versions of classic KFC dishes and new items. Among them:
- Veggie Strips – crispy strips made from mycoprotein;
- Veggie Burger – a combination of strips, iceberg lettuce, pickles, and signature sauce;
- Veggie Twister – a light snack made with the same ingredients;
- Salad with Veggie Strips – with fresh tomatoes;
- Rice Box with Veggie Strips – seasoned with teriyaki sauce and sesame.
Restaurant Design and Concept
Dishes are served in eco-friendly green packaging, emphasizing the outlet's concept. The restaurant's interior has also changed: instead of the usual red accents, there is a predominance of green tones, and the facade and decor are adorned with plant motifs. Instead of the traditional image of a chicken on the sign, one can see the slogan '100% taste. 0% chicken.'
'Opening a vegetarian KFC is not just marketing, but a step towards change. We want to be relevant to our guests by offering formats that meet global trends. This is our way of showing that even brands with a strong history can evolve,' said Alina Kiptik, CEO of the Tasty Food franchise for KFC in Ukraine.
The restaurant operates from Monday to Thursday – from 12:00 to 21:00, and from Friday to Sunday – from 10:00 to 22:00. From September 29 to October 5, visitors are offered a 10% discount on all dishes and free delivery via Bolt Food.
The opening of a vegetarian KFC in Ukraine is an important step not only for the brand but also for consumers. It indicates a growing interest in healthy eating and sustainability, which are becoming key aspects for many people. Updates in the menu and concept prove that even traditional formats can meet modern consumer needs.
