Ukraine Braces for Icy Hazard as Deep Freeze Gives Way to Rapid Thaw.
Weather Forecast for Ukraine: Warming Trend Brings Ice Threat
According to TSN.ua: Meteorologists are warning that a sharp rise in temperatures across Ukraine will follow the recent cold spell, but will be accompanied by hazardous precipitation. This shift in weather patterns, common during transitional seasons, will bring wet snow and freezing rain, creating dangerous ice buildup on roads and sidewalks.
In the western and southern regions, temperatures will range from +5°C to +9°C, leading to significant snowmelt. However, central and northern areas will see much colder conditions, with readings between +1°C and -4°C. The lowest temperatures are forecast for the northeast, particularly in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, where thermometers may drop to -12°C.
Forecasts indicate temperatures will climb an additional 3-5 degrees by midweek. Despite this warming trend, meteorologists note that icy conditions are expected to persist until the upcoming weekend. Wind speeds of 5-10 meters per second are anticipated, which will amplify the chill factor, especially in exposed areas.
Road Safety Alert: Official Recommendations
According to meteorologist Ivan Semylita, Monday will be dominated by wet snow and rain. Fluctuating temperatures across many regions are likely to cause black ice formation, significantly increasing the risk of injuries from slips and falls. Residents are urged to exercise heightened caution in the coming days due to these treacherous conditions.
Such volatile winter weather significantly impacts daily life and infrastructure in Ukraine. The high probability of widespread ice poses a serious hazard to both pedestrians and drivers, likely disrupting transportation networks. Meteorologists will continue to monitor the situation closely to provide timely updates on further changes and potential dangers to the public.
