Waymo Passenger Found Stranger in Self-Driving Taxi Trunk.
According to ТСН: In Los Angeles, a woman discovered a stranger in the trunk of the Waymo self-driving taxi she ordered for her daughter. The incident occurred on Monday in MacArthur Park. When the car arrived, the woman noticed a man sitting in the trunk.
“What the hell are you doing in the trunk?” the woman asked the stranger.
To this, the man replied: “I’m trying to figure this out. This thing won’t let me out.” It turned out he had gotten stuck in the trunk after the previous passenger left it open at the end of the ride.
The Eyewitness News channel reached out to Waymo for a comment. In their response, they noted that the incident is unacceptable.
“We strive to ensure the safety of our passengers and earn the trust of the communities we operate in. This incident is unacceptable, and we are actively implementing changes to prevent similar situations in the future,” emphasized a company representative.
Waymo also reported that their support team promptly contacted the woman and provided her with the necessary assistance during the incident. According to them, the passenger was unharmed and stated that she was fine.
This incident highlights the importance of safety in autonomous transport services, as even in self-driving taxis unforeseen situations can arise. Waymo has stated that they are taking all necessary measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future, considering the experiences from this incident.
