New satellite images of the attack on Novorossiysk: damage to the pier and the submarine.

According to ТСН: New satellite images have surfaced online, showcasing the aftermath of the attack on the Russian naval base in Novorossiysk. The photos reveal damage to the port infrastructure following strikes by underwater drones.

These images were provided by Maxar Technologies. Notably, the photos clearly show a damaged section of the pier, next to which is a Kilo-class submarine. It is currently unknown whether this submarine was affected by the attack.

Purpose of the Attack

Russia uses submarines of this type as carriers for Kalibr cruise missiles, which it regularly deploys against Ukraine, particularly in the Odesa region. Clearly, the attack aimed to diminish the opponent's missile capabilities in the Black Sea.

Statements from the Security Service of Ukraine

Remember that the Security Service of Ukraine reported that as a result of the attack by the underwater drones Sub Sea Baby, the Russian submarine sustained critical damage and was effectively taken out of action. According to the SBU, there were four launch systems for Kalibr missiles on board.

Denial from the Russian Black Sea Fleet

At the same time, the press service of the Russian Black Sea Fleet confirmed the fact of the attack by Ukrainian sea drones in the bay of the Novorossiysk base, but denied the information about the critical damage to the submarine.

The situation around the Novorossiysk base clearly shows an escalation of military actions, indicating an intensification of the conflict in the region. This incident could significantly impact the balance of power in the Black Sea, where each strike becomes decisive in the struggle for control over maritime routes.
