Border Guard Organized Channel for Draft Dodgers to Moldova: Arrest and Charges.
According to ТСН: A border guard inspector attempted to organize an illegal crossing channel to Moldova for military service conscripts.
According to the State Bureau of Investigation, after a year of service at the border, this official decided to use his knowledge for personal gain. He was well aware of the duty schedules, patrol routes, and the local terrain, which allowed him to implement a scheme for the illegal transport of individuals.
Participation in the Scheme
According to the investigation data, the inspector involved two individuals who wanted to illegally leave the country and promised to take them to Moldova in his own car for 9 thousand US dollars, circumventing the checkpoints.
Arrest and Charges
Law enforcement officers detained the perpetrator while he was receiving the full payment for the 'service'. He is currently under house arrest and is charged with illegal transportation of individuals across the state border of Ukraine according to part 3 of article 332 of the Criminal Code.
The perpetrator paid almost 1 million hryvnias in bail, which at his request was directed towards supporting the defense capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Sanctions and Procedural Guidance
The sanctions for the article imply punishment of up to 9 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The procedural guidance is conducted by the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Specialized Prosecution Office in the defense sector of the Southern region.
It should be noted that earlier it was reported about a military officer who fled and organized a scheme for the illegal transport of draft dodgers abroad in Transcarpathia. Such cases indicate serious problems in the border crossing control system that require urgent response from state authorities.
