The assault began at 6:00 PM on March 15, with the primary targets being the Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, and Kyiv regions.

The unmanned aerial vehicles were launched from multiple locations, including:

  • Oryol
  • Kursk
  • Bryansk
  • Millerovo
  • Primorsko-Akhtarsk
  • the temporarily occupied Crimea

Notably, over a hundred of these drones were of the Shahed type, a one-way attack UAV. The attack resulted in 16 confirmed impacts across ten different sites. Additionally, debris from downed drones fell on 11 locations, creating further hazards in the affected areas.

This incident highlights the ongoing hostilities from Russia and the continued efforts of Ukrainian defense forces to counter these threats.

The latest developments show that Russia persists in its active military aggression against Ukraine, particularly through the use of unmanned aerial systems. They also underscore the critical role and effectiveness of Ukraine's air defense networks, which are capable of neutralizing a vast majority of incoming drones. Under these circumstances, Ukraine must remain vigilant and keep strengthening its defensive capabilities to withstand similar attacks in the future.
