March 10, 2023 Drone Attack on Ukraine

According to TSN.ua: In a large-scale overnight assault on March 10, 2023, Russian forces launched 137 attack drones against Ukraine, 80 of which were Shahed-type models. The strikes caused civilian casualties in several cities, including Dnipro and Kharkiv, and targeted infrastructure in the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. This attack is part of a sustained campaign targeting Ukrainian cities and energy systems.

Ukrainian air defenses managed to intercept or jam 122 of the hostile drones by the morning of March 10. In Dnipro, at least 10 people were injured, among them a 12-year-old boy. In Kharkiv, a drone strike wounded four individuals: women aged 58, 38, and 52, as well as a 17-year-old girl.

On the evening of March 9, the Russian military also struck a transport infrastructure facility in the Mykolaiv region. Explosions were heard in Kherson on March 10, injuring nine people. Separately, in the Koriukivka district of the Chernihiv region, a downed drone ignited a residential house and a car. An explosion was also reported in Sumy, prompting an air raid alert.

Casualties and Damage from the Attacks

The injured in Kharkiv included three women aged 58, 38, and 52, and a 17-year-old girl. In Dnipro, the attack damaged an administrative building, apartment blocks, and vehicles. In Kherson, six apartment buildings and 14 private houses were damaged, highlighting the severe impact of the strikes on civilian areas.

This assault represents a further escalation in the conflict and a continuation of aggressive actions against Ukraine.

The noted attack indicates an intensification of military actions on Ukrainian territory, which could have serious consequences for civilian safety and infrastructure.

Given previous patterns, such mass strikes may signal new tactical approaches by the aggressor, necessitating a strengthened response from Ukrainian defense forces and the international community. The humanitarian consequences of these attacks, which harm not only military targets but also civilians and their well-being, are of critical concern.
