Deadly New Threat: Russian Drones Dropping Mines on Ukraine, Civilians Warned.
Shahed Drones Are Sowing Mines Across Ukraine—What We Know About This Emerging Danger
According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian authorities are sounding the alarm over a grave new hazard: Russian forces are now using Shahed drones to drop anti-personnel mines. According to expert Serhiy Bezkrestnov, each unmanned aerial vehicle releases roughly eight mines. This tactic was observed as far as 50 kilometers from the border.
In the city of Kherson, on Kostya Hordienka Street, similar mines have already been discovered. The munitions are made of plastic, making them extremely difficult to spot. Bezkrestnov warned that "the snow has melted, and the mines will be clearly visible on the ground," but stressed that "it is strictly forbidden to approach them on foot or by car." He added, "As always, I urge you to tell your children about this."
This escalating threat demands heightened vigilance from the public in areas where mines may be present, along with widespread awareness of safety protocols. As the conflict continues, the risk of hidden explosives grows, making it critical for communities to recognize the dangers and follow proper precautions.
Because these mines are designed to be inconspicuous, detection remains a major challenge. Safety efforts must focus on educating local residents—especially in war-torn regions—about how to identify suspicious objects and what steps to take to prevent accidents.
