Sister Called Godmother a Poor Thing Due to Gifts: A Story of Bullying in the Family

According to ТСН: A resident of Poland shared her negative experience during a Christmas dinner when she was bullied and insulted by her sister for not being able to buy gifts for her nieces and nephews.

She revealed that two years ago she became the godmother of her brother's daughter and always happily gave gifts to children not only on holidays but also on no occasions at all. However, six months ago, the girl lost her job and has not found a new one since.

"I go from interview to interview, actively searching, but so far, it's very hard. I live with my parents, so fortunately, they are currently supporting me financially, but I feel so sorry about it. I simply have no money, and I feel very sorry," she recounts.

On Christmas, she decided to make gifts by hand, but her 19-year-old sister challenged this at the festive table, calling her a "poor thing."

"The words of my sister deeply hurt me. Then she added that I am a terrible godmother for not buying anything for the child. But the worst was yet to come. At some point, she blurted out: 'Aren't you ashamed to come home to your family the day before Christmas without any decent gifts? Poor thing. No one will tell you this, but everyone knows,' the narrator notes.

Her sister ruined the Christmas evening and humiliated the girl in front of all the relatives.

"Do godparents really only get chosen today to buy gifts for the child? After my sister's words, I no longer want to attend any family gatherings, and I feel ashamed to look my brother in the eye. Although, as I wrote, everyone has taken my side and reproached my sister, her words still hurt me. Now I feel like a bundle of suffering - insecure, humiliated, and broke," the author of the article concluded.

This situation highlights the importance of kindness in the family, especially during the holidays. Mutual support and understanding can help avoid conflicts that leave a bitter aftertaste in relationships. It is evident that, despite the support from other relatives, the words of loved ones can cause serious psychological harm that takes time to overcome.
