Ihor Kondratiuk’s Son Voluntarily Enlists in Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Completes Training in the UK.
Serhiy Kondratiuk’s Service in the Ukrainian Military
According to TSN.ua: Ihor Kondratiuk has revealed details about his son Serhiy’s service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, noting that Serhiy volunteered to join the military in 2023. Despite having vision of minus six diopters, Serhiy intended to serve in a mortar unit near Kupiansk. He underwent training in the United Kingdom, where he learned assault troop standards. He is currently serving with the 46th Air Assault Brigade.
The father admitted that his son’s decision to become a soldier caught the family off guard.
“He serves, he grumbles. Because he’s not a military man at all. He volunteered in 2023. It was unexpected for us. He told his mother not to say that he went to the enlistment office and decided to serve”, Kondratiuk recounted. He also expressed the belief that Serhiy is unlikely to return home anytime soon:
“I think he won’t be home anytime soon”.
Dispute with Vitaliy Kozlovskyi
Separately, Ihor Kondratiuk addressed a conflict with Vitaliy Kozlovskyi. He stated that he had forgotten about Kozlovskyi’s remarks and pays no attention to the situation:
“Have I forgiven Kozlovskyi? I forgot about him. Is that an apology or not? I don’t care whether Kozlovskyi exists or not”.
In light of the ongoing war, many young Ukrainians like Serhiy Kondratiuk have chosen to defend their country, reflecting a broader trend of voluntary enlistment. Serhiy’s military service and training in the UK highlight the role of young volunteers in Ukraine’s modern army, as well as the personal challenges faced by their families during these difficult times. The rift between Ihor Kondratiuk and Vitaliy Kozlovskyi further illustrates how personal and professional relationships can shift during crises, when security and survival become the primary concerns.
