In Mykolaiv, the prosecution is investigating a scandal over the preparation of school food in the street.

According to ТСН: The investigation into the improper nutrition of schoolchildren in Mykolaiv is ongoing after a video appeared on social media showing employees of a catering company preparing food outdoors. Law enforcement is conducting searches at various city institutions.

What is known about the school food scandal in Mykolaiv?

A scandal erupted in Mykolaiv after a video surfaced showing catering company employees preparing food for schoolchildren in the open air. The company's head, Iryna Stoyeva, confirmed the authenticity of the video but denied that the food was prepared over an open flame. She added that this batch of food did not reach the schools.

On that day, some schools did not receive food or refused it due to the late arrival of employees. According to Stoyeva, the cooking process was complicated by power outages and problems with the generator's startup.

The prosecution's reaction to the scandal

The Mykolaiv prosecution has launched a pre-trial investigation into possible violations in the organization of school nutrition. Following media publications, information was entered regarding an article related to embezzlement, misappropriation of property, or abuse of office during martial law.

The following day, a criminal proceeding was initiated under the article concerning violations of sanitary rules and norms to prevent infectious diseases and mass poisonings. Both proceedings have been combined.

At the initiative of the prosecutors, the court allowed searches to verify the quality of food, the conditions of its storage and preparation, as well as the legality of the use of budget funds for children's nutrition.

"Currently, investigative actions are being conducted at the Department of Education of the Mykolaiv City Council, the municipal enterprise that provides food in educational institutions, as well as with the catering service provider. During the searches, documentation regarding purchases and food delivery, as well as food samples, is being seized," the Prosecutor General's Office reported.

During the investigation of the situation in Mykolaiv, special attention is being paid to how the organization of nutrition affects the health of children. Authorities and law enforcement are taking measures to prevent similar cases in the future. It is crucial for children to receive safe and quality food, especially during their education.
