According to ТСН: At least 16 people have died and another 20 have been injured as a result of a school bus falling into an 80-meter ravine in northern Colombia. The tragedy occurred as graduating students were returning from a holiday on the Caribbean coast.

The accident happened early Sunday morning. The bus, which had 45 passengers, was traveling from the Caribbean coast to the city of Medellín. On a stretch of road between Remedios and Saragosa, the vehicle went off the track and plunged down a slope of 80 meters.

Among the passengers were students from a local high school. Reports indicate that this trip was not officially organized and was initiated by the students themselves.

As a result of the accident, the bus driver was also among the dead. The injured, whose ages range from 16 to 27, were taken to the nearest hospitals.

The causes of the crash remain unclear, and authorities have begun an investigation.

Recall that earlier in the American state of Florida, a light aircraft Beechcraft 55 crashed into a Toyota Camry during an emergency landing on a busy highway.

Road tragedies, especially those involving school buses, elicit special resonance in society. This case underscores the importance of safety during the transportation of children, as well as the need for careful monitoring of the condition of vehicles. The investigation into the cause of the crash hopes to shed light on the circumstances that led to this horrific event and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
