Putin plays on Trump's expectations: the goal is to disrupt funding for Ukraine

According to ТСН: Vladimir Putin, the dictator of Russia, is playing on the hopes of American leader Donald Trump, trying to completely disrupt financial support for Kyiv.

Negotiations without Europe

Political scientist Igor Chalenko noted that the President of Russia seeks to conduct negotiations without the participation of Europe, possibly inviting China as a third party.

"For Putin, this is somewhat like a second Yalta. The messages that 'Putin is ready for compromise, but you need to press Kyiv more' is a play on Trump's expectations for a quick end to the war. It is clear that Kyiv is already under enough pressure," Chalenko noted.

Suspension of aid to Ukraine

Reports about the suspension of aid to Ukraine appeared in The Atlantic, but it requires confirmation. If true, this will be the fourth time in a year.

"I haven't seen such tactics against Russia. Yes, we have seen the imposition of tariffs against India, concerning 'Rosneft' and 'Lukoil'. What is currently very serious has really hit the Russians. However, the pressure is mostly on official Kyiv. We are well aware that the biggest issue here is the territorial question. Ukrainians simply do not want to leave their land — whether it is one square meter or 20-25% of the Donetsk region," said the political scientist.

Putin's plans

Putin is trying to disrupt the adoption of further financial support for Kyiv. Earlier, fake signals from the Kremlin about peace were discussed. Politician Volodymyr Omelyan noted that the meeting between Witkoff and Putin in Moscow did not promote peace negotiations.

"Hoping that everyone in the West will go for Christmas now, and have their own troubles, he will be able to seize another piece of Ukraine and harm a certain number of Ukrainians. He has achieved this goal," emphasized Omelyan.

Omelyan also stressed that Putin has no intention of stopping the war, so the Ukrainian government must take care of the financing of the state and the army.

From the latest statements of Ukrainian analysts, it becomes clear that the situation regarding financial support for Ukraine remains tense. In the face of constant pressure from the Kremlin and possible changes in Western policy, it is important for Ukraine to maintain international ties and express its needs for military and financial assistance. Only in this way can the country resist aggression and preserve its territorial integrity.
