According to TSN.ua: A 59-year-old military serviceman was assaulted and robbed by two men in Kyiv's Holosiivskyi district after he asked them for directions to the metro. The victim, a resident of the Kyiv region, had his backpack, mobile phones, bank cards, personal documents, and approximately eight thousand hryvnias stolen by the attackers, who are Kyiv residents aged 29 and 48. This incident highlights the challenges of maintaining public safety during wartime.
Law Enforcement Response
Law enforcement responded swiftly to the report of the attack. Investigators detained the suspects and formally notified them of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The perpetrators face up to 15 years of imprisonment. They are charged under:
- Part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which covers robbery involving violence dangerous to a person's health, committed by a group of persons in conspiracy under martial law;
- Part 1 of Article 28 and Part 3 of Article 357 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, concerning the misappropriation of an official personal document, committed by a group of persons for selfish motives.
This case underscores ongoing security concerns in the capital, particularly under martial law.
