After the shelling of Kyiv: 500 high-rise buildings left without heating.
According to ТСН: The situation in Kyiv remains extremely difficult. After the latest shelling, there is a significant shortage of electricity in the capital, and about five hundred high-rise buildings have been left without heating.
“After today's shelling, there is currently an even greater shortage of electricity in the capital. Even to ensure critical infrastructure,” emphasized the mayor.
Power outages
Last night and this morning, Kyiv was hit by a Russian strike. As a result of this attack, emergency electricity outages have been implemented in the city. DTEK emphasized that old outage schedules are no longer in effect.
The company's website notes that in some areas, electricity may be absent until the end of the day, particularly in Podil, Vynohradar, and Sviatoshyn. The Ministry of Energy also reported that the duration of outages may depend on a significant drop in air temperature.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported that in areas of Kyiv where the biggest problems with electricity supply exist, the State Emergency Service provides apartment buildings with powerful generators.
“They also reduce the load on the system and ensure the vital functions of entire neighborhoods,” said the head of the government.
Transport movement
Movement of surface electric transport on the right bank has been temporarily suspended in the capital. Bus connections have been organized on certain routes to replace the corresponding trolleybus lines.
Buses provide connections along trolleybus routes in several areas of Kyiv, including:
connection with the center and train stations (No. 3-TR – “Railway Massif — Sports Palace”);
connection to metro stations (“St. Smilyanska — metro station “Square of Ukrainian Heroes”, No. 45-TR – “Metro station “Exhibition Center” — metro station “Vasylkivska”);
Main and interregional (No. 6-TR – “Minsk Massif — Independence Square”, No. 1-T – “Mykhailivska Borshchahivka — st. “Starovokzalna”).
More detailed information about the routes, including their diagrams and stops, is available on the portal kyivcity.gov.ua.
Supermarket operations
A number of supermarkets in the capital and Kyiv region have temporarily suspended operations, including Novus in Pozniaky and Osokorky, as well as Silpo. According to information from ATB, this chain is operating without interruption.
Amid rumors of the closure of large retail chains, the mayor of Kyiv denied this information.
The Prime Minister noted that the government is controlling the situation with supermarkets in the capital.
“The situation with providing people with food is under control. I instructed the Minister of Economy to personally monitor and respond to the requests of the networks,” emphasized the Prime Minister.
The situation with electricity supply and heating in Kyiv sharply worsened after a massive strike. As a result of the attack, 6,000 houses were left without heating. There are also interruptions in water supply in some areas of the capital due to damage to generation facilities.
