Two Ukrainians suffered frostbite while attempting illegal escape to the EU.
According to ТСН: In the northern part of Rivne region, two men suffered frostbite while trying to illegally cross the state border.
According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, border guards discovered two offenders in the forested area of northern Rivne, who were trying to enter the countries of the European Union.
Difficult weather conditions
The men got lost during their movement and lost their bearings in extreme weather conditions as the temperature dropped to -20°C. Due to prolonged exposure outdoors, they suffered severe hypothermia and frostbite, which complicated their further movement.
Border guards' assistance
The border guards had to carry the men out of the forest. At the scene, the servicemen provided them first aid, warmed the victims, and called an ambulance. Both were taken to a hospital for further treatment.
Legal consequences
Administrative materials were prepared regarding the attempted illegal crossing of the state border. The final decision concerning the offenders will be made by the court, and measures are currently being taken to establish all circumstances of the incident.
Recall that we previously reported that border guards named the countries most often attempted to escape to by draft dodgers.
This situation highlights the dangers of attempting illegal border crossings, especially in difficult weather conditions. It is important to heed the recommendations of the border guards, as the risks associated with such attempts can be not only legal but also life-threatening.
