In Lviv, an investigation is underway into the murder of two dogs: police opened a criminal case.
According to ТСН: In Lviv, law enforcement officials have initiated a criminal proceeding due to possible animal cruelty that led to the death of two dogs.
On November 26, a woman reported to the police about the probable murder of her two dogs in the Sykhiv district. Employees of police department No. 2 of the Lviv district police opened a case under Part 1 of Article 299 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - 'Cruel treatment of animals.'
According to this article, the punishment is limited freedom for one to three years or imprisonment for two to three years. Confiscation of the animal is also possible. Currently, a pretrial investigation is ongoing to clarify all circumstances of the case and individuals involved in it.
Recall that the Kyiv police confirmed the fact of a teenager killing a cat in the Akademmistechko area, as previously reported on social media.
Earlier, animal rights activists reported that in August, the manager and other employees of a store strangled a stray cat. After the cat's murder, its body disappeared, and it is currently unknown what happened to it. Animal rights activist Nina Prokopeć does not exclude that the animal's body may have been deliberately concealed from the investigation.
This situation once again emphasizes the importance of animal protection and the need to hold those responsible accountable. Activists, animal rights defenders, and concerned citizens continue to discuss issues of animal cruelty, hoping for changes in legislation and improvements in the situation. Each such case causes a resonance in society, and society requires appropriate actions from the state to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
