According to ТСН: In the U.S., authorities have found Michelle Newton, who went missing at the age of three, 40 years later and charged her mother with a crime.

In 1983, the girl's mother, Debra Newton, told her husband, Joseph Newton, that she had found a new job in Georgia. The family planned to move, and Debra went ahead, taking Michelle with her. After that, the woman stopped communicating with her husband. Joseph reported their disappearance to the police. The girl and her mother were considered missing for over 40 years.

In November 2025, an anonymous call to the 'Crime Stoppers' TV show led law enforcement to Florida, where they discovered Debra, who was living under the name Sharon Neely, along with her daughter.

46-year-old Michelle did not even suspect that she had been missing since childhood. Debra Newton was arrested and released on bail of $25,000.

“She has always been in our hearts,” Joseph Newton told WLKY. “I wouldn’t trade the moment of our meeting for anything in the world.”

Michelle herself, who had been raised under a different name all this time, noted that she intends to support both parents in this situation. Her mother, who had hidden under a false identity for years and remarried, is accused of unlawful detention of a child.

This story highlights the importance of family ties and the duration of searching for missing persons. Many uncertainties still remain in the relationships between Michelle and her parents, but undoubtedly, this new discovery will mark the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
