An oil refinery in Volgograd burned at night after a drone attack.
According to ТСН: On the night of December 26, drones attacked the city of Volgograd in Russia, leading to a fire at the "Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka" oil refinery. The Governor of the Volgograd region, Andrey Bocharov, confirmed the fact of the drone attack but did not mention a strike on the refinery.
"Tonight, the air defense units of the Russian Ministry of Defense are repelling a terrorist drone attack on the territory of the Volgograd region. Currently, there are no casualties or damage to facilities," Bocharov wrote.
In the morning, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported 77 allegedly shot down or intercepted drones, of which 34 were destroyed over the Volgograd region.
Attacks on oil refineries
The Ukrainian defense forces also struck the facilities of the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in the Yaroslavl region of Russia.
In addition, on the night of December 12, drones attacked a refinery in the Russian city of Yaroslavl, located over 700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
The events of recent days indicate an escalation of the situation between Ukraine and Russia. Attacks on strategic facilities, such as oil refineries, signal an escalation of the conflict and new challenges for both sides.
