Rocco, the Italian, was denied entry to Ukraine: what was found on social media about the heroine of the scandal.
According to ТСН: In recent days, there has been active discussion in Ukraine about the incident involving Rocco, an Italian who traveled to Ukraine for his wedding, asking about Russian President Vladimir Putin. Thanks to a post by Ukrainian Daria Melnychenko, the foreigner was denied entry to the country and banned from entry for three years. This situation took a new turn when it was revealed that Daria follows pro-Russian figures and posts videos of Russian artists who support the war.
The situation with Rocco at the border
On Tuesday, Ukrainians were outraged by a story about a bus coming from Italy. 53-year-old Rocco publicly praised Putin and insulted Ukraine, even though he wore a vyshyvanka given to him by his Ukrainian fiancée. During a stop, he approached 22-year-old blogger Daria Melnychenko and started a conversation with her, in which he expressed negative opinions about the Ukrainian state.
“I don’t know why he was addressing me specifically. It all started with a compliment about my vyshyvanka. He said: ‘Yes, thank you, this was given to me by my beloved, but...’ And he started to say:
‘Your president is so bad, I support Putin. Putin is so great, and Zelensky is an idiot’, Daria recounted.
A conflict arose between them. After that, at the second stop, the man added:
‘Heil Hitler!’ He yelled that Zelensky is a drug addict.
It was outrageous that despite his trip to Bila Tserkva, Rocco actively supported the aggressor killing Ukrainians. He claimed that his fiancée also shares his views, even though she is Ukrainian herself.
“I said: ‘No, we are completely different Ukrainians, because I do not share his opinion,’” the girl noted.
Actions of Daria Melnychenko
Daria quickly reacted, writing about the incident on social media, where she stated that people like him should not cross the Ukrainian border during the war. She assured that she would notify the relevant authorities about Rocco.
‘He won’t get through my border. I will do everything. I will lie down, but he will not enter Ukraine,’she emphasized to her followers.
The story gained significant popularity: in a short time, almost 20,000 people began to follow Daria. She did not expect such attention and was surprised by the results.
‘I just posted this text. I thought there would be about 50 people supporting me,’she shared later.
When the bus arrived at the checkpoint ‘Chop-Zahony,’ Rocco was already waiting for it with all the authorities.
‘A journalist wrote to me that all the agencies at the border are already waiting for us,’ Daria added.
At the border, Rocco was led out of the bus along with his companion, and then Daria was invited, who at first detailed the incident. It turned out that Rocco had published pro-Russian material and symbols on social media.
Rocco's denial of entry to Ukraine
Upon arrival at the checkpoint, representatives of the State Border Guard Service confirmed information about this event.
‘Upon the arrival of a person at the checkpoint, all border control measures are in effect. Decisions are made exclusively in accordance with the law,’ the service emphasized.
As a result, Rocco received a ban on entering Ukraine for three years.
Rocco and his fiancée
It turned out that Rocco was traveling to Ukraine to marry a Ukrainian woman. He reacted calmly to the entry ban:
‘Okay, no problem. Then I will go to Italy to get married’, Daria reported.
The company AL-TRANS, which provides bus transportation, officially announced that it would no longer serve Rocco.
‘We will not take Rocco back to Italy; let him walk!’the company stated.
Over time, it became known that Rocco's companion also decided not to go to Ukraine but to return with him.
Support for Daria
After the incident, Daria received immense support from Ukrainians and businesses. People thanked her and emphasized that such civic positions make Ukraine stronger.
Daria is the daughter of a Ukrainian military officer who is currently at the front.
‘Daria's father is at the front, and he does not yet know that she has become a star for her patriotic position’, a journalist noted.
Daria's problems on social media
However, on social media, it was revealed that Daria follows pro-Russian accounts and posts videos with Russian music. This led to a new wave of criticism, after which the girl closed her page.
‘This is an incredible story of success and downfall. Today, social media reflects emotions that change very quickly,’ the journalist noted.
