Assault on Soldier in Kremenets

According to TSN.ua: A Ukrainian soldier was assaulted following a traffic collision in the town of Kremenets, Ternopil Oblast, on January 11, 2026. The incident involved an unregistered quad bike and an attempted bribe. The victim, Mykola, a volunteer soldier serving since 2015, was returning to his unit from leave when the crash occurred on a central street.

According to an eyewitness, Mykola exited his car to inspect the damage after the collision with the unmarked quad bike. At that moment, the quad bike's driver approached and struck him. The assailants then reportedly tried to bribe their way out of trouble, attempting to evade responsibility for both the crash and the assault. This region of western Ukraine has seen a significant military presence since the onset of the full-scale invasion.

Official Response and Local Concern

A representative from the Territorial Recruitment Center, a lieutenant colonel, arrived at the scene. However, police reportedly failed to record the identities of the quad bike drivers in their official report, listing the driver as unknown. This official inaction has heightened concerns among local residents about safety and accountability.

The incident underscores persistent issues of road safety and aggressive behavior by drivers who may believe they can act with impunity. The combination of an unregistered vehicle, physical assault, and attempted bribery points to serious legal violations. Local anxiety over such events is growing, which may lead to calls for stricter vehicle controls and more thorough investigations of similar incidents in the future.
