First Results of 'Thousand Springs' Announced
According to Novyny.live: On June 11, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented the initial outcomes of the 'Thousand Springs' program, which has already drawn more than 2,600 applications. This initiative, launched just days earlier on June 6, spans seven distinct areas of support for Ukrainian culture—a critical effort amid the ongoing war. Zelenskyy emphasized that culture serves as a weapon to safeguard Ukraine’s consciousness, identity, and future:
'This is extremely important, especially during wartime, when culture also acts as a weapon to protect Ukrainian consciousness, our identity, and our future.' Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Over 150 experts will evaluate the submitted projects as part of the assessment process. President Zelenskyy also expressed optimism about the program’s potential:
'I believe that today we are starting something truly significant and great. And I believe it will all work out.' Volodymyr Zelenskyy
The 'Thousand Springs' program aims to bolster Ukrainian culture during these challenging times, when the country faces numerous obstacles. The high volume of applications reflects strong public engagement and interest in cultural initiatives. By covering seven support areas, the program is designed to foster creativity and preserve Ukraine’s cultural traditions.
This project represents a major step in backing Ukrainian culture and its development, helping to maintain national identity during the war. It opens new opportunities for artists and cultural organizations, potentially boosting social cohesion and national awareness. Furthermore, the active participation of citizens underscores the resilience and determination of Ukrainian society to sustain culture even in difficult circumstances.
