Trump Pushes Ukraine on Territorial Concessions, Zelensky Warns of Pressure.
Zelensky Sounds Alarm Over U.S. Demands
According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Donald Trump may pressure Kyiv into surrendering territory to end the war with Russia. His remarks follow unproductive talks in Miami between Ukraine’s delegation and Trump’s special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Zelensky also highlighted that Russia continues to back Iran by sharing satellite imagery with Tehran.
Security Guarantees Versus Territorial Integrity
Zelensky acknowledged that Ukraine could secure U.S. security guarantees if it withdraws troops from the Donbas region. 'I believe President Trump and his team genuinely want to end the war,' he stated, while voicing deep concern over possible land concessions. 'But why should we have to pay the price? We are not the aggressors,' the Ukrainian leader added.
What worries me is that no one truly grasps how dangerous this decision would be for our security. — Volodymyr Zelensky
These comments reflect the delicate balancing act Ukraine faces as it seeks a path to peace without compromising its national interests.
Zelensky’s statements underscore the tension between the desire for peace and the need to preserve the country’s territorial integrity. Amid active negotiations with the United States and ongoing Russian aggression, it is crucial for Ukraine to maintain its stance in international relations and defend its interests on the global stage.
