January 5, 2026: what holidays and important dates Ukraine will celebrate.
According to ТСН: January 5, 2026 — Monday. The 1411th day of the war in Ukraine.
What holiday is tomorrow
On January 5, believers celebrate The Day of Remembrance of Saints Theopemptus and Theona. Theopemptus, refusing to worship pagan gods, bravely endured torture. Theona, a former pagan and sorcerer, was invited to break his faith, but seeing God's power, he himself became a Christian. For this, both were forced to accept martyrdom.
On the same day, Baptism Eve or Epiphany Eve is celebrated. This is a day of strict fasting before the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, dedicated to spiritual cleansing, prayer, and preparation for the Epiphany. On this day, services are held to bless the water, during which believers prepare to receive holy agiasma, recalling the baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan.
January 5 is also celebrated in Ukraine and around the world as International Drying Day. Its purpose is to give the body a rest after festive overeating, facilitate digestion, and restore a sense of moderation in eating. On this day, light food is usually consumed: vegetables, fruits, dairy products, cereals, or simply reduce portion sizes, combining this with hydration and calm activity. Drying day reminds us of the importance of caring for our health and being attentive to our well-being.
In addition, January 5 is celebrated as Bird Day in the USA. This day emphasizes the importance of preserving birds' natural habitats, responsible treatment of domestic and wild birds, and combating illegal bird trafficking. The holiday reminds us that birds are an integral part of the ecosystem and need human care and protection.
These holidays remind us of the importance of spirituality, health, and ecology. They urge us to pay attention to faith, our attitude toward our bodies and the environment. Regardless of how we celebrate them, these dates are meant to unite us in our desire to preserve something valuable — traditions, health, and nature.
