According to ТСН: In the Netherlands, a father and brothers brutally killed an 18-year-old girl, believing she was 'too Western.' The girl's mother blames only the man for this crime and defends her sons.

Sumayya al-Najar stated that her family fled Syria and sought asylum in the Netherlands in 2016. After eight years that seemed happy, everything fell apart when her daughter Ryan was killed. Father Khaled al-Najar killed his daughter, believing she had become too Western.

The father tied up Ryan and drowned her in a small pond, just a month after her birthday. After the crime, he fled back to Syria, where he lives with another woman, despite being sentenced in absentia to 30 years in prison. Sumayya al-Najar seeks for him to be extradited back to the Netherlands for punishment. Ryan's brothers, 25-year-old Muhannad and 24-year-old Muhammad, were convicted of aiding and abetting the murder and received 20 years in prison each.

Although from the outside, their family appeared integrated into society, according to al-Najar, Ryan's clothing style and behavior became reasons for conflicts. The father often called his daughter a 'whore' and said she 'needed to be killed.'

'He was a cruel man,' al-Najar said. 'He broke things and beat me and his children, he beat us all. And then he refused to acknowledge that he was wrong and beat us again.'
'Ryan was a good girl,' al-Najar said. 'She studied the Quran, did her chores, and learned to pray. But Ryan was constantly bullied at school for wearing a white scarf.'

The girl sought to integrate into her new society and began to behave like a local, which displeased her father. This became the reason for the tragedy.

The girl's mother emphasizes that she will never forgive her husband for his crime.

This story highlights the complex issues of migrant integration into new societies and the consequences of domestic violence. It also exposes the deep cultural conflicts that can arise in multicultural environments and shows how important it is to provide safety and support for young people trying to find their place in a new world.
