In India, a woman accused her husband of marriage fraud: a hidden bald spot and lies about income.
According to ТСН: In India, a woman approached the police with a complaint against her husband, claiming that he deceived her about his appearance, education, and income before marriage.
A resident of Noida, Lavika Gupta, filed a lawsuit against her husband Sanyam Jain and four of his relatives. She believes she agreed to marry in 2024, trusting false information.
According to her, she was promised a husband with thick and healthy hair; however, after the wedding, it turned out that he was bald and wore a wig.
Deceit regarding education and income
The initial police report filed with the Bisrakh department states that the couple married on January 16, 2024. Gupta claims that her husband's family concealed several important facts, including his actual level of education and financial condition.
She reported that she was told Jain had a Bachelor of Commerce degree (BCom), although he only completed 12th grade. The woman also claims that her husband assured her of a monthly income of 180,000 rupees (about 20,000 US dollars), which turned out to be false.
Serious accusations
Lavika emphasized that it was his appearance that influenced her decision to marry. Importantly, she only learned about the use of a wig to hide baldness after the wedding.
Additionally, her statement contains even more serious accusations. The Bisrakh police reported that the woman claims that during a trip abroad, her husband subjected her to violence and forced her to transport marijuana from Thailand to India. The case is currently being investigated by law enforcement.
This situation draws attention to issues of transparency and honesty in relationships, especially when entering into marriages. Lavika Gupta's case may be viewed not only from a legal perspective but also as a socially significant issue in the context of partner interactions.
