A Chinese man files for divorce: his wife spent $163,000 on donations to a streamer

He shared his story, noting that he had lived on a minimum for years to provide her with comfort:

Liu, as he is named, talked about the situation to a provincial television channel in Henan. The couple had been married for eight years, raising a child in the city of Xinyang. Liu works in Zhengzhou, 25 kilometers from home. He rented a small apartment for 300 yuan a month and gave almost all of his income to his wife, which totaled 1.16 million yuan ($163,000).

The woman had not worked since their wedding, taking care of household chores and the child. When the husband asked to see the bank account, she refused, raising his suspicions. Later, she confessed that there was no money left and had even taken out a loan for 80,000 yuan.

Of the 1.16 million yuan, she spent 670,000 on gifts and donations to one of the streamers. The woman could not explain where the rest of the money went. In the correspondence, she referred to the streamer with the words:

, claiming she had never met him in person.

Liu noted:

"I saved on everything to provide for her, and she gave the money to another man. I think she just couldn't stand the loneliness."

He emphasized that he lived in unsuitable conditions while his wife had all the comforts at home.

The man stated that he no longer feels love for his wife and seeks to get half of their joint property, after which he plans to file for divorce.

The platform where the streamer worked reported that it had launched an internal investigation into the situation.
