In Dnipro, a man was sentenced for a fictitious marriage to evade mobilization.
According to inkorr.com: A court in Dnipro has sentenced a man who entered into a fictitious marriage with a woman with a group II disability to two years of probation. This verdict was issued by the Chechelivskyi District Court. The man hoped to avoid mobilization and received a deferment just a month after the marriage.
"I was acquainted with the woman, I knew about her condition, and I married her to avoid going to the military. There was no relationship between us," the man admitted.
The court found him guilty under Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and initially sentenced him to four years in prison. However, the punishment was later changed to two years of probation.
The pace of mobilization in Ukraine remains stable
President Volodymyr Zelensky noted during a press conference that the pace of mobilization in Ukraine remains stable and does not differ from the indicators of the past six months. He also reported that new grounds for deferments have appeared in the ‘Reserve+’ application, including for individuals with temporary unfitness based on military medical commissions and for parents of minor children if their spouse serves in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Thus, the situation in the country keeps the issues of mobilization and ways to obtain deferments for various categories of citizens relevant. The case of the convicted man is an example of the circumstances that provoke discussion both in society and among the authorities.
