Scheduled Power Outages Across Ukraine

According to TSN.ua: Starting March 1, Ukraine will implement scheduled hourly power outages across most regions. This measure is a direct result of significant damage to the country's energy infrastructure from Russian attacks, which has forced authorities to ration electricity. These rolling blackouts are a grim reality of the ongoing war's impact on civilian life.

The situation has improved in the Kyiv region, but emergency outages continue in Odesa Oblast. Residents in Zaporizhzhia Oblast will be without power for nearly half the day, while in Poltava Oblast, households will have electricity for only 9 hours daily. Kirovohrad Oblast will experience 6-7 hour daily outages, and Sumy Oblast faces the most severe restrictions with 10-14 hours without power each day.

In Zhytomyr Oblast, outages will last just 2 hours per scheduled group, and in Cherkasy Oblast on March 1, power will be cut for 2-4 hours depending on the schedule. Meanwhile, no outages are planned for February 28 in the Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, Volyn, Lviv, and Rivne regions.

Outage schedules for Vinnytsia Oblast are available on the official website. Schedules for Chernivtsi Oblast and Khmelnytskyi Oblast are being updated.

These measures aim to stabilize Ukraine's national energy system and ensure a fair distribution of the limited electricity supply among all consumers. The introduction of scheduled blackouts is a consequence of the prolonged war and relentless attacks on energy facilities, which have caused severe power supply problems. Authorities are attempting to equitably distribute scarce energy resources across all regions, a critical task especially during winter when energy demand typically peaks. The duration of these restrictions will depend on the ongoing military situation and the pace of energy infrastructure repair.
