Starting in 2026, the vaccination calendar will change in Ukraine: what to expect for children.
According to ТСН: From January 1, 2026, a new calendar of mandatory preventive vaccinations will be introduced in Ukraine. Among the key changes is the addition of a vaccine against the human papillomavirus, a transition to combined vaccines, and adjustments to the vaccination schedule by age.
According to the Ministry of Health, the updated calendar will include 11 infectious diseases: tuberculosis, hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, polio, diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, Hib infection, and the human papillomavirus (HPV).
One-time vaccination for girls
Ukraine also plans to introduce free one-time vaccination for girls aged 12 to 13 against the human papillomavirus. Additionally, the vaccination schedule for measles will be modified.
Changes to polio vaccinations
Starting next year, polio vaccinations will only be administered via injection, using a syringe. Currently, a combined vaccination schedule is used in Ukraine.
We remind you, in Ukraine, the number of measles cases has increased more than tenfold in a year. This infection poses a significant threat, especially to children in groups. As noted by the Chief Sanitary Doctor Ihor Kuzin, measles is one of the most contagious diseases: nine out of ten unvaccinated children who come into contact with an infected person will surely become infected.
The introduction of the new vaccination calendar is an important step in combating infectious diseases in Ukraine. In particular, vaccination against the human papillomavirus will help reduce the risks of diseases among the younger generation. These changes emphasize the priority of children's health and the overall goal of increasing vaccination levels in the country.
