Kyiv Students to Receive Extended Winter Break from January 19 to February 1.
Winter Break for Kyiv Students
According to TSN.ua: Students in Kyiv will have a two-week winter holiday, running from Friday, January 19, through Thursday, February 1. This decision was made by the Kyiv City Defense Council in response to the current situation. Such adjustments to the academic calendar are not uncommon in Ukraine, where authorities must balance educational needs with public safety and welfare.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has stated that these extra winter vacation days will be compensated for by shortening the upcoming spring break and one week of the summer holiday. This measure is intended to ensure comfortable learning conditions for students. The academic year for Kyiv schools will conclude no later than July 1.
Focus on Child Safety and Well-being
The Kyiv City Defense Council implemented this step, prioritizing the safety and well-being of children. The extended break may be a response to changes in the epidemiological situation or other factors impacting the educational process.
These schedule changes will affect the plans of educational institutions and parents, many of whom had already begun preparing for the originally scheduled spring and summer vacations.
